Wittelsbacherallee, Frankfurt Bornheim.

Another watercolor and pencil sketch on my neighbourhood, the beautiful Wittelsbacheralle that divides Frankfurt Ostend from Frankfurt Bornheim, I think!

The big plane trees accompany the curved street and the charming old buildings.

I drew this on a Sunday in Winter, the soft light, violet and ochre colors, the quietness of the street invited to sketch.

Osthafen

This is a view I enjoy every day walking or cycling to the Atelier. 

I choose this promenade close to the water. At the other side the industrial machines work day and night and move as robots. 

The evening sun falls on the colourful metalic containers and the iron of the bridge appears heavy and elder.

Nordendplatz, Frankurt

 Another sketch on location on my way, here the very lively Nordendplatz that has all to be a beloved meeting point:

Small bookshop, natural and home-made ice cream dealer, Café with tables outside...  and a playground for children under big chesnut trees...  In the sketch appear just the bike riders, Altbau fassade and the beautiful big trees... next time more :)

A couple of months ago there was a Urbansketchers meeting in Aschaffenburg, a very nice city in Bavaria close to Frankfurt and along the Main River.
Even if it was quite cold and windy, we got to make a few sketches. Here is my contribution.

 After sketching outside, we went to the mythic Schlappeseppel brewery to eat some Wurst mit Kraut and drink some.. Bier of course 😋

Saint Ursanne

Und am Sonntag waren wir in ein kleines altes Dorf bei dem französischen Grenze, in Jura auf den Elsass Seite.. natürlich haben wir nach dem Zeichnen und leckerem Picnic im schönen grünen Fluss gebadet, und über die riechende, frisch gemähte Stroh gelegt.. voll der Sommer Sonntag!

Basel

in der Schweiz war ich vor 2 Wochen, das Wetter war so sommerlich! und das Land ein Traum, so schöne Landschaften, Flüße, Bächer, Bäumen..  die Stadt auch zauberhaft, so alt und gepflegt und süss und klein. Brunnen überall und Linden Promenaden, eine bunte Architektur, und da in der Mitte der Rhein, wo ich auch gesprungen habe...

Drawing Frankfurt

I went with Gordian to catch some sketches of Frankfurt. First in an old and busy café, the Metropol, which I really like because its atmosphere reminds me somehow to Paris. And then over the bridge, trying to capture the well-known Mainhattan silouette ;)
We hurried up because our hands froze in the cold wind! too many buildings in too short time!

A street in Bornheim

I am discovering all the time sweet corners in my neighbourhood and sometimes I stop a few minutes to draw them. I love those beautiful old houses tightening their selves to each other, and each one different though keeping a kinship.

Höchst

A town west from Frankfurt, with old houses and lots of flowers. It was a sunny Sunday midday of October.

Osthafen

"Puerto del Este", quiere decir.
Desde final de Febrero vivo en Frankfurt Ostend. Es un barrio que se está regenerando y cambiando muy rápido.. Me gusta su mezcla, parte antigua y burguesa, parte pobre y obrera, parte moderna y en auge, especialmente por el banco central y las orillas del Main.. en unos minutos bajo hasta el río, y a la izquierda el panorama sigue siendo muy industrial y activo.. los muelles, canales, grúas.. por la noche oigo el aullido de algunos trenes que se acercan a la Ostbahnhof. Es una estación solo de mercancías.. a veces el chirriar va en crecendo, cada vez más claro y agudo y tengo que escuchar atentamente para asegurarme que no es algún vecino afinando un violoncello. Es muy curioso y misterioso el sonido de estos trenes...

USK Treffen in Darmstadt

The Weekend from 4th to 6th September there was a gathering of Urban Sketchers in Darmstadt, a city not far away, at the south of Frankfurt. I went there on Saturday, the weather was..(horrible!) not good at all! But it was great to meet all those nice and good sketchers! such a cosy, inspiring and creative atmosphere! I Hope to attend another meeting soon!

Altea

Mirror of the sea, a hillside falling into a mediterranean bay.
White houses and purple bougainvillea, flooded the whole with an intense sunrise light and jasmine scent.

Altea es espejo de luz y mar, una colina que cae en la bahía mediterránea.
Casas blancas y moradas buganvillas, inundado el conjunto por la intensa luz del levante y esencia de jazmín.

El Miguelete

Here is the most well-known tower of Valencia, with its graceful figure. This is a view from the square Plaza de la Virgen.

It was a very hot Monday morning, I met with the urban sketcher fellow Esperanza, and we were very busy looking for shadows where we could rest and draw, if possible with an interesting perspective too.

La emblemática torre valenciana, de graciosa proporción, vista desde la Plaza de la Virgen.
Era un Lunes por la mañana, y me encontré con la Urban Sketcher valenciana Esperanza para dibujar. El calor ya apretaba y fuimos buscando como locas sombras donde poder pararse a dibujar, a ser posible con perspectivas interesantes.

Oberbaumbrücke

Hace unos cuantos meses.. cuando aún no había llegado el Verano, Marina Grechanik (urban sketcher representante en Israel) estuvo de visita en Berlin. Marina, Omar y yo nos encontramos en una terraza del Spree a dibujar.. desde donde la vista más evidente era el puente Oberbaumbrücke que une Kreuzberg con Friedrichshain.

pd-siento que os esté mostrando dibujos retrasados.. el scanner estuvo "de vacances" una temporada..

Montags

Monday, mondays...

Los Lunes trabajo en una escuela cerca de Lichterfelde Ost, a la hora de comer me siento en un rincón tranquilo. 

Eso es fácil de encontrar. 

Este barrio es una ciudad jardín, de casas antiguas con abetos y calles adoquinadas.

Hago escala en la parada de Yorckstrasse, a veces me toca esperar bastante. 

Los árboles de enfrente, todavía desnudos, están adornados con bolas de muérdago.
