Palmengarten ...

again!
We are having a very grey, dark, grey, rainy Februrary (not today!). It is also very cold, so on Sunday there is not much joy to go for a hike. That's why a couple of weeks ago I went for a walk to the Palmengarten in Frankfurt. There is cosy and green, and if it is raining you can go inside and feel a bit tropical, even if it is still dark and grey! 💚

 First I tried to stay outside, and I sat under a evergreen tree to paint this majestic Beech tree with oil pastels which are good when it is wet and raining... but the rain didn't want to stop so I moved inside to paint more greenery and the crazy Orchideas blooming! wow, they look a bit like aliens to me...

Palmengarten Frankfurt

A sunny, Summer Sunday morning at the Palmengarten in Frankfurt. I went for a guided visit on the subject "Palmtrees". It was very interesting, afterwords I make a walk through the gardens and sketched a little bit. With watercolors and with black ball pen.
Also I went inside the greenhouse to draw some tropical plants. I will bring you soon some more to keep faith and strenght over this grey year time!

Sie sind so delikat und schön und es ist so schade zu hören dass sie nun in Gefahr sind, wegen der intensif Benutzung der Herbizide! oh Mensch, was tust du der Erde!

I picked them in a corn field -the place to be- in Taunus last Summer. 
They are so delicate, soft and beautiful... and so sad to hear that they are now endangered
because of  the massive use of herbicides!

Flores amarillas

Tema y variaciones.
Son de las últimas flores del huerto... bueno, las rosas siguen floreciendo lentas y sin fuerza, desafiando valientes el frío y las heladas de Noviembre..

 Yellow flowers... some of the last blooming in the garden season. Only the brave roses still blooming weak and slowly, challenging the cold November..

Tropaeolum Majus

o majas Capuchinas.
Que no falten en ningún huerto ni jardín, con su gracia bailarina y cálidas notas de color, de amarillo a profundo naranja. Sus hojas redondeadas solo le añaden más gracia aún.

Nasturtium or Monk cress in english.
They are a must in every garden with their cheerful dance and warm notes or colours,  from yellow to deep orange. Also their rounded leaves add grace to this graceful plant.

Physalis - Chinese Lantern

"Physalis alkekengi" is the latin name. They looks exactly like paper lamps. I am sure it was the inspiration for them! They have a so incredibly intense orange, it is hard to believe they are real, thanks God of Nature which gifts us with all those things..

Physalis o Linternas chinas, se llama esta planta con flores como de papel de naranja intenso que guardan una bolita como una perla también naranja intenso. Son increíbles, el color, la forma, la textura.. gracias a la Diosa Naturaleza que nos regala con todas estas maravillas..

Lilas blancas.
Hace mucho que no os traigo un ramito de flores... de momento unas Lilas de Primavera. Ahora florecen las parientas más silvestres y alocadas, cuelgan por los terrenos abandonados y huelen también a miel, igual o incluso más intenso.
